Whether you loved Game of Thrones Season 8, hated it, or, like me, felt ambivalent about the whole thing, it’s hard to deny that it was one hell of a ride. Looking back at my early reviews of the season, the word “underwhelming” pops up a few times, and ultimately, that’s probably my overriding feeling about Season 8 in its entirety. Dany not wanting more death of the people tells Jon to end her suffering and take leadership to become King of the 7 Kingdoms, honoring their familial blood. Jon reluctantly agrees, ending her life. Jamie, realizing what Cersei has done meets her one final time where he kills her by stabbing her in the heart. Jon (or Aegon now) and Dany don't have time to get in a big heated fight about it, though. The horns blow and they race to the battlements. Off in the distance, in the dark and the snow, the army English | Spanish | Russian | French David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on. This series deserves a final season that makes sense. It’s a sly note to those of us who have spent a decade or longer with George R.R.
